New Visa Application Procedures to the US
The United States Embassy in Kampala is implementing new procedures for applicants who wish to apply for tourist, student, or other non-immigrant visas to the United States.
A press statement from the American embassy states that all applicants for tourist, student, business, and other types of nonimmigrant visas will effective June 25th will be required to complete the visa application form on the internet using the Electronic Visa Application Form, (EVAF), before they can be booked in for an interview.
The Electronic Visa Application Form allows applicants to fill out the application online, print it out, and take it to the consular section or other data entry point.
The change will directly benefit visa applicants by eliminating the present requirement that all visa applicants appear at the Embassy by 7:30 AM in order to obtain a visa interview.
Applicants are advised to apply at least three weeks in advance of their anticipated dates of travel.
Applicants appearing at the U.S. Embassy for non immigrant visa interviews will be required to present their appointment confirmation page printed from the appointment website at http://kampala.usembassy.gov.
The statement says that the new procedure is being implemented to improve customer service and the efficiency of the visa application process.
